Construction of the new Asclepios of the Policlinico of Bari

Works at the Asclepios 3 construction site in the Policlinico in Bari have resumed. On April 24, works resumed at the Policlinico in Bari on the construction of the new building, intended to house the surgical and emergency room complex of the departments, with integrated activities performed by Mr. Vito Barozzi’s Cobar SpA. In the building, a total of 27 thousand square meters, laid out on eight levels, will hst the operating wing, hospital and university wing, Cardiology, Respiratory Diseases, Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery divisions. This was announced in a statement issued by the Policlinico hospital in Bari.

The resumption of work, requested by the general management of the Policlinico di Bari, has been made possible thanks to the application of the new Covid-19 prevention protocols put in place at construction sites. In fact, the contractor will ensure maximum compliance with all anti-infection measures.

Safety will be guaranteed in line with the new national Covid-19 prevention protocols. At the entrance to the site, the body temperature workers, suppliers and visitors will be measured and, if the registered temperature surpasses 37.5°C, access will be prohibited and emergency procedures will be activated. Workers affected with fever will be taken to a quarantine room and health authorities will be alerted.

A rotation system for the use of common areas, such as locker rooms or cafeterias, has been put in place, to discourage gatherings and enforce a social distance of at least 1m, specified under current protocols as the most effective measure against the spread of the virus. Sanitization activities will be intensified  and workers will be equipped with individual protection devices including masks, goggles, disposable gloves and special protective suits. Some of this equipment will be vital during working operation that, due to their nature, do not allow for maintaining a 1m social distance.
