In the new 167 area in Barletta, the roads are laid out in a regular grid pattern, with one main road connected via crossroads to secondary roads. Cobar has provided construction for roundabouts at the intersection of the main roads and level crossings connecting secondary roads.

Although the 167 area is dense in urban development, it still lacks rainwater drainage channels, since the area still formal addresses. Cobar’s solution devises the temporary accumulation of rainwater in two reservoir facilities, consisting of underground basins created via a grid of joined and appropriately overlapped pipes: these completely interred pipes run alongside distribution pipes, and they are equipped with rainwater treatment systems.

Once the drainage channels are made available, the peculiar feature of this grid allows for all existing pipes, through a temporary repurposing as storage tanks, can be easily recovered and reused for the creation of new sewer pipelines.

Specifically, rainwater treatment structures are equipped with a permanent storage tank. Part of the water will be reused to feed the irrigation network of green areas, while the remainder will be rerouted to the urban rainwater network within 24/48 hours from a rain event.

Additionally, the project includes the creation of two public parks in Via Dante and Via Barberini, designed as a unitary architectural structure: both share the same architectural idea, adapted with different features for each park depending on the necessities. The principle behind it follows the need to create safe and welcoming areas, in order to foster social cohesion.
