Specifically, the structural works carried out by Cobar focused on the extradossal consolidation of the foyer dome with carbon fiber bands, the subsequent restoration of the structural stratigraphic layer and copper plates covering apparatus.
Additional work was provided for: the intradossal consolidation of steel structures and foyer attic joists; the consolidation of reinforced concrete pillars in the main entrance and on the overhanging beam; the creation of first level beams and ceilings aligned with the main entrance and with the connection corridor between the walkway and the tech rooms in the south-west corner; the creation of the small dome on the hall roof with steel structures and wooden finishes covered in copper sheets.
Particular attention was paid to the restoration of the artistic features, strongly affected by wear and tear, in order to restore the theatre’s architectural style and poise.
Finally, with the recalibration and completion of conservation interventions for wall paintings and the foyer’s stuccoes, an important piece of history of the city of Bari has been reclaimed: the original colour has been restored through chemical and mechanical cleaning operations, the gaps and missing sections have been treated with pigments that reduce visual imbalances.
