PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

The first lot of interventions on the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor archaeological area in Tivoli has brought to completion the excavation that brought to light the side of the temple podium and the remains of a collapsed section of the attic: with the perspective of possible further excavation operations on the area overlooking the side, a temporary arrangement consisting of a pozzolan mix pathway and a light metal carpentry footbridge has been created, proving useful to even out the difference in incline caused by the collapsed attic, and to rebuild a continuous path that connects to the triporticus’s north branch.

In the area facing the podium, the remains of the great staircase that separated the temple from the theatre have been fully reconstructed. The restoration and reintegration of the Roman theatre has been completed, allowing a capacity of about 1300 seats.

The stage is composed of a fixed part, which occupies the surface of the existing area, and a removable part, which extends from the back area and is equipped with a curtain mounted on two electrical-powered pantographs, which allow for their housing inside the orchestra pit.

Cobar SpA has proceeded with the restoration and structural consolidation of the structure, as well as the functional and engineering adaptation, of some of the rooms belonging former paper fatory overlooking Via Tecta: inside this area, the Antiquarium has been set up for the exhibition of archaeological findings already conserved inside the Sanctuary.

In other sections of Via Tecta, public toilets the theatre’s dressing rooms have been built.

With the second lot of the works, it was finally possible to complete operations on the following areas: the reception center (the two highest floors of the building have been allotted to it, with direct access from the front square, in line with triporticus attic and the roofing of the warehouse for archaeological finds); the reconstruction of the paving in via Tecta; the finalizing of the excavation inside the large rooms facing Via Tecta, aimed at restoring the original areas; and the construction of the new power breaker cabin that will simultaneously service all the activities currently performed inside the Sanctuary.
