The intention is to recover its original features and enhance its value and significance as a monument.
The final objective is to guarantee the preservation of the existing structure, integrate the collapsed masonry sections that are necessary for the repair the structural system, improve the overall functioning of the buildings and recompose the structure’s complete image, which is still intact.
The surveys and analysis action has highlighted the need to intervene promptly, to improve the stability of the structure in the presence of seismic activities and consolidate the masonry.
The reaction capabilities at the base of the masonry structures have been improved; the seamlessness of the masonry, which was heavily worn, has been restored along the fissure lines or in masonry areas; the lack of connections between the orientation and the masonry masts have been reduced; the worn masonry has been restored and its mechanical properties have been improved; the pushing action of the roof vaults has been reduced and, at the same time, the horizontal one exerted by the earthquake has been contained, by creating new wooden structures with no thrust; an efficient monolithic system has been put in place thanks to the joint action between the outer structure and the inner core, through the strengthening of the orientation.
